The Trap Studio

In 2007, at just 21 years old, Jamel's life changed drastically after losing both parents to cancer, becoming the full guardian of his disabled sister in Detroit. A back injury led him to yoga for relief, but he soon discovered its broader benefits, diving deeply into yoga, massage therapy, and Eastern medicine. Realizing the need for inclusivity in the yoga world, Jamel pursued yoga teacher training to inspire others. He began teaching Trap Yoga classes, blending music, dance, and yoga to make the practice accessible and enjoyable. Since then, Jamel has taught thousands in Detroit and nationwide, sharing wellness benefits with corporations, schools, and groups like Frito Lay, Brefix, The Boys and Girls Clubs, Illinois State University, and Alma College. In 2016, he founded The Trap Yoga and Massage Studio, dedicated to promoting health and wellness as a lifestyle. Jamel believes in embracing life's uncomfortable parts to inspire and lead others toward a life free from restriction.
